Canfield missed only one start since redshirting his freshman year because of a left knee injury. He was a three-time second-team All-Big East pick - as a left guard in 2007 and a right guard in 2006 and 2008. Canfield has good agility and great lateral movement, but lacks the lower-body strength that would make him an outstanding offensive lineman. He's of average size for someone in his position and has small hands (9 1/2 inches) and arm span (31 inches). With some bulk, Canfield would be a decent pick for many teams looking for an aggressive blocker. He's much more comfortable as a run-blocker than protecting the pass. In February 2008, Canfield was charged with assault after hitting a man in the head with a glass bottle, but the charges were later dropped. He was suspended from the team and though later reinstated, that incident could lead to some questions about his character. A smart player with good on-field vision, Canfield is likely a third-round pick, although he could sneak into the second round.
