Cal Crutchlow will be making his debut in the 2011 MotoGP championship having never contested in the junior categories before. The Coventry-born rider was announced to join the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team partnering with the experienced Colin Edwards. The British rider, however, used to race in World Superbikes before. Crutchlow has been a part of the Yamaha fraternity since 2009 and has won the World Supersport Championship with the Japanese manufacturer. There he was under the aegis of Jorge Lorenzo's team manager Wilco Zeelenberg. Crutchlow believes it is a natural progression for him to enter MotoGP with Yamaha as he now gets an opportunity to continue his evolution in the premier class.
