Live Commentary
Summary: With just 4 races remaining, Marquez bagged a timely victory to take a clear 16-point lead in the championship.

Rossi makes a valiant return with P5, just ahead of a fully-fit Vinales, who'd rue the 28-point gap to Marquez. So would Dovizioso, who'd need a couple of dominating results or some luck to swing things in his favour.

Plenty to play for, join us again on October 15 for the Japanese GP at Motegi.
Lap 23: This race is in the bag. Final lap. MARQUEZ WINS THE ARAGON GP, his fifth victory of the season. Pedrosa makes it a Repsol Honda 1-2. A podium will make Lorenzo happy.
Lap 22: Just over a second between Marc and Dani. Marc gets that gap from 1.1 secs to 1.3 secs in about half a lap.
Lap 21: Dovi down in P7, that will not be good for his title hopes.
Lap 20: It's a five-rider train in the battle for P4. Rossi leading that pack. Vinales takes Rossi, emerging as the new leader of that little pack. Turn 12 is the scene of Lorenzo falling back behind Dani.
Lap 19: Ducatis losing pace in these closing stages, as Pedrosa now raging behind Lorenzo.
Lap 18: Vinales now trying to take Rossi, the Italian holding on at the back straight.
Lap 17: Dovi now smelling Rossi's position. Vinales keeps that in check by demoting the Italian's Ducati.
Lap 16: Lorenzo's hopes of fighting back at Turn 1 are smashed as Marc pulls away. Crutchlow goes down. Rider ok.
Lap 15: Marquez now all over the back of Lorenzo. Any time now... MARQUEZ TAKES THE LEAD. Gets on the inside at Turn 12. Lorenzo strikes back but it doesn't last long. Pedrosa is past Rossi too, screaming by on the back straight.
Lap 14: Rossi coming under pressure from Dovi, who is under pressure from Dani. Pedrosa is through as Dovi runs wide at Turn 16.
Lap 13: Pedrosa now catching up with Dovi. The Repsol Hondas unleashing their pace at the midway point.
Lap 12: Meanwhile, Pedrosa finally passes Vinales.
Lap 11: Marquez now sizing up Rossi. Rossi leaves it late under braking at the end of the back straight but Marquez takes the inside line of Turn 16 to get through.
Lap 10: Marquez takes Dovi as they exit the final corner and zoom down the main straight.
Lap 9: These battles have been helping Lorenzo to maintain a stable lead.
Lap 8: Pedrosa with the fastest lap, on Vinales' neck. Marquez brakes very late, passes Rossi and then Lorenzo for the lead in one sweeping move... and then runs wide at the exit of Turn 12. Marquez back to P4 now.
Lap 7: Marquez now trying different lines in and out of corners. He is trying hard now.
Lap 6: Marquez has taken Dovi and moved up to third. Marquez tries to go around Rossi's outside at Turn 16 but runs very wide.
Lap 5: Rossi slowly and gradually dropping into the hands of Dovi, who has to fend off Marquez. Karel Abraham undersides into Turn 8. Rider ok.
Lap 4: Conditions are very hot out on track. Dovi closing in on Rossi, who hasn't made considerable inroads on Lorenzo.
Lap 3: Marquez much better on the brakes but Dovi can open up on the straights. Status quo in positions for the two.
Lap 2: Dovi has made up 4 places, while Vinales has dropped as many. The biggest gains and losses after the opening lap.4 Marquez now hounding Dovi as they get to Turn 14. Zarco takes Iannone for P11.
Lap 1: The red lights go out and it's ON! Lorenzo gets the holeshot and leads at Turn 1! Rossi takes a look on the inside of Vinales at Turn 7, but backs off. Rossi does it Turn 12. On the inside. A clean move. Vinales runs wide at 16 and Dovi goes through.
Preview: Hello and welcome to MotorLand Aragon for round 14 of the MotoGP season. The big news ahead of the weekend was the return of Valentino Rossi to the grid, just over three weeks after he broke his leg. The Italian has been valiant, qualifying an impressive P3. Maverick Vinales' pole position shows that the Yamaha has turned a corner, the only question is if it's enough. With Marc Marquez starting fifth, it's an opportunity for the other title contenders to make hay. The start will be key. Don't miss it. The race begins at 1200 GMT.
