Live Commentary
Summary: Lorenzo put on yet another clinic for the second race in a row, winning the Catalan GP from pole position in front of his home fans. Marquez was his closest rival, briefly leading for a spell but as the race wore on, he had nothing for the resurgent Ducati rider. Rossi rounded out the podium in third, keeping his hat in the title fight.

After crashing out in qualifying, independent rider Crutchlow kept his LCR Honda upright in the race and rode to a remarkable fourth-place finish, clawing his way past Pedrosa near the end.

Also with a late move, Vinales secured sixth place from Zarco. Lorenzo's 2019 replacement Petrucci finished eighth on the Pramac Ducati, ahead of Bautista. Iannone, who led for a flash on the opening lap, rounded out the top 10 finishers.

The race saw plenty of crashes, with only 14 of 26 riders, almost half the grid, classified as finishers.

Join us again in a couple of weeks' time for the legendary Dutch TT!
Lap 24: FINAL LAP Lorenzo wins his second race in a row! Mixed feelings for his Ducati team due to Dovizioso's retirement. Marquez crosses the line some ways behind his compatriot, while Rossi rounds out the podium. Marquez flies the flag for fallen Moto3 rider 14-year-old Andreas Perez, who perished in a crash, six days ago.
Lap 23: Lorenzo is almost a straight's length ahead of Marquez now, truly in a class by himself, as he starts the penultimate lap. Morbidelli pulls into the pits to retire, following his crash a few laps ago.
Lap 22: The last rider to win from pole position at Catalunya was Lorenzo in 2010. The only other rider to have won here from pole position was Rossi, back in 2006.
Lap 21: Vinales makes it stick for P6 past Zarco. Syahrin has crashed out in Turn 4, vaulting up in the air after losing rear grip. Just 14 riders remain on track now.
Lap 20: Crutchlow was the quickest rider on the previous lap. Had he managed to work his way up the order sooner, he could have possibly contended for a podium. Morbidelli's wretched weekend continues, as he crashes out in Turn 2. That is his fourth fall of weekend.
Lap 19: Rabat's Ducati goes up in flames at the end of the pit straight! He is able to leap off the bike before pitching it into the gravel runoff. Redding has retired.
Lap 18: Crutchlow has finally managed to get by Pedrosa for P4 in Turn 3 under braking.
Lap 17: Following his crash, Kallio is being sent to the medical centre for a check up.
Lap 16: Ducati have taken three MotoGP wins at the Catalunya circuit, including their very first in the class with Loris Capirossi in 2003. The last win for a Ducati rider at the Catalan GP was last year with Andrea Dovizioso. Can Lorenzo do it again today?
Lap 15: Crutchlow has caught up to Pedrosa again. He tries to go by the Spaniard on the pit straight but is fended off by a cheeky block. The battle for P4 has definitely heated up!
Lap 14: Iannone runs off track at Turn 1 after going in way too hot and rejoins in P12. Trying to outbrake Smith in Turn 5, Nakagami loses the front and crashes out, taking the hapless Smith with him.
Lap 13: Rins pulls off to the Suzuki garage and on to an early retirement. Crutchlow should have gotten ahead of Pedrosa when he had the chance, as the gap is too big now.
Lap 12: Crutchlow thinks about diving inside Pedrosa into Turn 1 but is not far enough alongside. Marquez seems to have backed off, following Dovizioso's retirement. The gap to Lorenzo is over a second now.
Lap 11: 'DOVI OUT' is the message shown to P2 man Marquez. Will he back off, knowing one of his main title rivals is out of it?
Lap 10: Lorenzo responds to Marquez's pace with a fastest lap of his own. Dovizioso's crash has promoted Petrucci to fourth in the championship standings.
Lap 9: Marquez with another fastest lap. DOVIZIOSO DOWN! Fourth in the standings, he goes down after losing the front. That is the second time in three races that he has crashed out of a podium position.
Lap 8: Marquez sets the fastest lap. He and leader Lorenzo are starting to gap 3rd place man Dovizioso now. Simeon has crashed out in Turn 1.
Lap 7: Lorenzo is starting to get into his groove, his lead up to 0.4s but it is not over yet. Marquez is on the harder tyres, which could come into play later in the race.
Lap 6: Aleix Espargaro has crashed out in Turn 11, after trying to fend off Nakagami. His runaway Aprilia came dangerously close to coming back on track and wiping out the oncoming riders.
Lap 5: Iannone, Crutchlow and Vinales are battling over P7. Petrucci goes too hot into Turn 1 behind Pedrosa and has to check up.
Lap 4: Dovizioso has done well to hold P3. He continues to run right on Marquez's tail, while behind him, Rossi is starting to fall behind the top 3. Luthi has crashed out in Turn 3. That is the eighth fall in the last four races for the rookie rider.
Lap 3: Vinales has had a horrid start, from P4 down to P10. Also dropping down the order, after his heroic start, is Iannone, to P7 now. Guintoli has crashed out in Turn 7.
Lap 2: Determined to get back the lead, Lorenzo slipstreams past Marquez down the pit straight and takes P1 under braking. Kallio has crashed in Turn 14.
Lap 1: The red lights go out and the Catalan Grand Prix is GO! Marquez gets the holeshot into Turn 1 from P2 on the grid. Iannone also barges past Lorenzo, dropping the polesiter to P3! Rossi is up to P4. Iannone pounces on Marquez into Turn 3 but outbrakes himself and drops to P3.
Preview: Hello and welcome to Catalunya for the running of the Catalan Grand Prix. This is the sixth round of the season and home hero Marquez comes in with a 23-point advantage over Rossi in the rider standings. The Spanish fans turned out in force this weekend and they got to see two of their heroes battle it out for pole position on Saturday as Lorenzo and Marquez went at it in the dying stages of the session. Slower traffic held up Marquez's final attempt and it was Lorenzo who came out quickest. They will be joined on the front row by Lorenzo's Ducati teammate Dovizioso. More well known as an F1 venue, the circuit consists of mostly slow and medium speed bends that offer a variety of technical challenges for both the riders and their bikes. The track has undergone a complete resurfacing, along with modifications to Turns 13 and 14. Who will win the Catalan Grand Prix? Tune in at 12 PM GMT to find out!
